Meals in Manchester
On a recent visit to Manchester NH, to my surprise, I discovered some truly good meals in Manchester. But first, a little about Manchester. Location: an hour west of Boston. Population: 112,000. US News ranked Manchester #6 Safest Place to Live. Sports: AA minor league baseball team the Fisher Cats. Entertainment: Southern New Hampshire Arena (SNHU) home for sports and concerts. A college town: Southern New Hampshire University.
The Foundry the largest certified Farm-to-Table restaurant in NH. Tucked into the historic Manchester Mill-Yard. Diners are treated to beautiful views of the Merrimack River from the outdoor dining area, a summer time favorite! Welcoming booths or lively bar-stools, even couches to accommodate all customers. Dinner choices range from Mushroom Leek Risotto to Caramelized Sea Scallops (delicious!)

Tuckers, a locally owned restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch, in large, delicious portions. Since they only take walk-ins and it was a busy morning we opted to order at their carry-out counter. They have tables for their carry-out guests, brilliant! We had a tasty, albeit filling breakfast. The menu has a wide variety of breakfast choices. From classic eggs with house potatoes, to the more exotic blueberry French toast, you will find something for everyone in your party.
If you live in New England you may have visited one of the 110 Cafes. Known for their upscale but comfortable atmosphere. Seasonal ingredients produced amazing entrees. For me, a perfect martini, gnocchi bolognese and a side of roasted Brussels sprouts….delicious!!!
The Red Arrow Diner is a landmark and one of my favorite meals in Manchester. “Voted one of the Top Ten Diners in the Country”. Walls are covered with with pictures of politicians and celebrities. Not a large diner, the few booths were filled, but 2 seats at the “counter” came available as we walked in. Large, classic breakfast fare! Keep an eye out for Presidential candidates visiting New Hampshire, they’ll likely make a visit.
